Altec Lansing XA3051 5.1 Speaker System Ultimate
The XA3051 system is a six speaker Dolby Surroud Pro Logic sound system. One center, two front, two rear, and one subwoofer. It has 100 Watts total peak power, wired controller, two headphone jacks, dual mode selector, auxiliary input, color coded cables, and wall brackets. Now, I'll explain what each one of those is.
100 Watts total peak power is the total power that these speakers combined can dish out. 100 is more than enough for your gaming needs unless you want to lose your hearing.
The wired remote is a remote with volume, bass, trebel control and a stereo or surroud sound selector (dual mode selector). The remote is connected to the subwoofer. You would think that wired remotes were a thing of the past but the reason they did this is because there are also two headphone jacks on it. If Altec Lansing would have made this all wireless then the price would have gone up.
The auxiliary input is for connecting a double sided headphone jack cord to another headphone output... like a boombox or the headphone jack on your Gameboy.
The color coded cables make setting up these speakers a breeze! Each speaker plug has a corresponding color on the back on the subwoofer so there shouldn't be any mistakes... that is unless you are color blind, if that is the case, ask someone to double check them for you.
The wall brackets (2) are for the rear speakers, if you want to get a surround sound feel you can hang them up behind you. They are easy to set-up, you just need four screws and a screwdriver.
The look of the XA3051 is very cool. The speakers look like those old 1950's radio station microphones. Kind of like a cage on the front. The speakers and subwoofer are black and gray and color. Overall, they look very cool and should go well with any furnishing.
Now for the sound. I was very satisfied with the sound. Even at the highest volume, the XA3051 system sounded great. Of course, Halo was used to test these along with other games and movies. The sound was not dissapointing. Along with games and movies, I hooked these up to a cheap $30 boom box and was blown away by the sound the eminated from the speakers!
If you are looking for some speakers for your room, be sure to check these out. Great look, great sound, great features make these speakers worth the price of admission. Good job Altec Lansing!
