MadCatz Blaster

Ok, by now you may notice that XboxHardcore.com has a lot of MadCatz product reviews, the reason being, they make great products! Their new Blaster light gun is no exception. Right now their is one game that supports the light gun, and that is Sega's House of the Dead III but fear not, there are more games in development that will support the Blaster. So being the only game to test the Blaster with, I popped in House of the Dead III and went on a fragging adventure!

The Blaster handles nicely while playing House of the Dead III and made the game more enjoyable, making it seem as if you were playing in an arcade! The Blaster comes in a bright green color and is medium sized, not to big while not too small. The reason for the bright green color is the fact that many people have been killed by accident when police officers thought they had a gun when in fact the gun they had was a toy gun. So to avoid any future incidents, a law was passed that stated any toys guns released for sale had to be a bright color so they couldn't be confused for the real thing.

The button layout on the Blaster is as follows: the Start and Back buttons are tucked inside the gun by where you will put your trigger finger. The A button is the trigger, the B button is a button on the handle used to reload. The Y and X buttons are located on the side of the Blaster. The Black and White buttons are on the opposite side of the Y and X buttons. The D-Pad is a stick mounted on top on the Blaster making it easy to navigate menus with your thumb.

Some cool features of the MadCatz Blaster are the fire modes and memory clip. The Blaster includes Auto Fire mode which fires 360 rounds/min, Burst Fire mode which fires off 3 rounds, and lastly Shotgun Fire mode which fires 5 shots in a star pattern with one trigger pull. The memory clip is a special place to put your memory card but what makes it 'cool' is that it is in a place that makes it seem as if you are adding ammo to the Blaster.

Overall, the MadCatz Blaster is a great buy if you play House of the Dead III and want to be at the arcades in the privacy of your own home. Fun to play with, comfortable, and loaded with features, the Blaster makes a great addition to your hardware library! Only wish that there were more games to support it!

Overall Score: 9/10
