LASR GamePak

"Custom designed to store your Xbox console and its accessories, the GamePak combines the storage of a home gaming entertainment center with the mobility, look and feel of a backpack. It allows you to play right out of the bag, which means you no longer have to unpack your system in order to set up and play games once you arrive at your destination. Take your game on the road!" That is how the official LASR website describes the GamePak. Does it live up to their words? Let's find out!

Alright, I'll start off by describing the outside of the GamePak which I will call GP throughout the review. The GP is a backpack with the following dimensions: 19"H by 15"W by 6"D which you can imagine is pretty big, but then again, look at your Xbox. :-) The outside of the GP has 2 bags with zippers that when unzipped unveil even more place to organize your Xbox stuff. For example the second biggest bag is perfect for carrying your Xbox magazines! The straps are strong and comfortable. The GP also comes with side buckles to keep the main compartment safe. Other features on the outside of the GP are heavy duty rubberized corners to keep your bag from ripping apart along with a heavy duty handle in case you don't want to carry your Xbox on your back or feel the need to show off your arm muscles by carrying over 10 lbs to your friend's house while the neighborhood girls stare in awe ... of course they could just be staring in awe that you still play videogames... if that's the case then you're screwed. :-)

Now to the inside, the main attraction, of the GP. This is where your priced possesion, you Xbox, will be. Once you unzip the main compartment you will notice that you have 8 slits to put your favorite games in. Along side the game holders, there is a space for your game manuals (does anybody read them?) and on top of that there is space for 2 memory cards (does anybody use these?). Then once your eyes are done staring at what I just mentioned, you will then set your sight to the 'mothership' ... the perfectly designed compartment for your Xbox. Your Xbox will fit nicely in the space and you can even play from the bag. What about overheating, you ask? Well, the fine folks over at LASR have got you covered. On the side of the GP, there are 2 side vents that you can unzip to give the Xbox the much needed ventilation. What about the plugs, you ask? Well, there is a rear compartment that when unzipped gives you the needed space to pass your cables and connection through.

It seems the people at LASR thought of everything with the GamePak! A big round of applause to them for an outstanding product. If you want one, then go to www.lasraccessories.com/ or you can wait until early 2003 when the GamePak will be available at Fry's Electronics and other retailers!
