MadCatz MicroCON Controller
Let me start off by saying Mad Catz must have a deal with the devil (sorry if that offends anyone) because with every new controller they bring out they just keep getting better and better! Now that my praise is out of the way (for now) let's start with some history. In May of 2002, at the Electronics Entertainment Expo or E3 as it is known, Mad Catz unveiled their new line of controllers called the MicroCON. Fast forward to the present and the MicroCON series is in stores now!
At first I was skeptical about the tiny controller. I said to myself "This can't possibly be comfortable!" Well I was wrong! The MicroCON has got to be the best 3rd party controller I have ever set my gaming hands on. Period. The MicroCON is even smaller than Microsoft's Controller S. Yes, hard to believe but it's true. I know some of you might be thinking that it can't possibly live up to the Controller S or original Xbox controller but this bad boy has it all. Not one thing was poorly designed due to the size of it. You have your D-Pad in the shape of a cross, perfect for Tony Hawk, you have your 2 sticks, 4 face buttons, and the black and white buttons underneath them. The 2 triggers have the perfect amount of spring pressure on them while the BACK and START buttons are located nicely under the left stick leaving the MACRO button (used to program combos) in the center. The MicroCON also has 2 slots for your memory cards.
The look of the MicroCON is slick and pretty. The one which I am reviewing is a green colored MicroCON that just shines! This controller will stand out half way across a room! And thats a good thing. Too much black is bad, good job on MadCatz's behalf for making them in green, blue, etc.
Overall, the MicroCON is hands down the best 3rd party controller for Xbox! Not one other controller comes close to the quality and comfort. If you are in the market for a new controller for those Halo LAN parties of yours then look no further, the answer is MicroCON. Buy it now.
