Pyramat PM300
You're probably wondering to yourself, "What the hell is a PM300?" Well there's nothing wrong with that, that's what we're here for.
It is actually an odd piece of hardware. The Pyramat PM300 is actually a mat that you rest on which has 2 speakers and a subwoofer built into it! Yes, you read correctly... built in! That's right, built in... pure genius!
Are your TV speakers just not cutting it? Do you want some more bang in your sound? Well, you're in luck, that PM300 does just that.
The PM300 has a 4 inch high performance woofer, a 25 watt (rms) amplifier, and a remote to control the volume. It is compatible with Xbox, PlayStation 1 and 2, GameCube, Gameboy Color/Advance, TV, DVD, CD players, and Stereos. Connect any of these to improve the sound.
The sound is quite good... its not surround sound but it is better than any TV speakers. The subwoofer has enough punch to it to satisfy your vibration needs. At low and mid volume, the PM300 is great but if you're feeling wild and what to turn this baby up all the way then you will not satisfied. At high volume, the PM300 suffers from distorted sound which is quite a shame. But even if you could turn this baby up all the way without distortion, you probably wouldn't since the speakers are practically next to your ears.
Speaking of volume, the PM300 comes with a remote (if you want to call it that) connected to the back of the back of it. It is a wire running from the back and on the end it has a round 'ball' with a little button you push in to power on the speakers and a scrolling wheel on the side to control the volume. Nothing really special especially since it feels like you could break it if you wanted to with the squeeze of a hand. Yup, break it... the quality of the 'remote control' feels cheap. I would of liked some stronger plastic, something that feels sturdy.
Ok, now that the sound is out of the way, let's talk about the quality of the mat. The PM300 is made up of very solid and comfortable padding. After lying on it for a few hours, my body pressure didn't even leave a mark when I got up, very solid. Your back will rest on a back support that is comfortable aswell. If you don't want to lie down, you can arrange the PM300 to function as a chair as well.
Once you are done using your PM300, just roll it back up and it will become a triangle that doesn't weigh much so you won't break your back putting it away. By the way, it has a handle for easy carrying and the rolled up mat is held together with velcro straps so you don't have to worry about the PM300 unrolling itself.
Overall, the Pyramat PM300 is a great innovation. I'm surprised why someone didn't think of this before. Pretty good sound, very comfortable, and people will be jealous of you. These things makes the PM300 worth the purchase... that is if you have $150 USD. :)
Overall Score = 8.5/10
