News: Tom Morello stars in Guitar Hero III
Activision has announced that Tom Morello, from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, will guest star as a boss character in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Click here to read the article.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

The game starts out in a movie in which you are told that the 5 elementals are out there and you must recover them. To get these, you beat a boss for each level which is my opinion is pretty dull. There are some pretty cool moves that I likes, such as the triple spin bazooka and and double jump. There is not much lag, and the loading screens are not bad but long. After you beat all the levels, you get a secret level which doesn't add to the excitement. The gameplay is average. The Crash Bandicoot series needs to take the road less traveled by and reassure itself as a top platformer, but if all the games are the same old thing, then Crash will simply be another platformer.

This game has great detail such as furshading! The background graphics are about the same as the in game graphics which aren't bad at all. Enemies look great also, such as the little robots on the fourth level. The movies that are shown are average in quality. With a bit more work and detail, the score would have been higher.

The beginning movie is really long which is not a bad thing. Its gotten a little toned down since mad dog left Crash, the voiceat the begging isn't the same with his deep voice but it's still cool. The main screen is quite dull, you're in space and you have three choices at the beginning and they are new game, load game and options (wow! groundbreaking!). The in game menus are a little but not much. But what more could you ask for, it's a Crash game.

The game has 26 levels, one of those being a secret level that is unlocked when you pass the other 25 levels. This is the first time you actually get to use Crash's girlfriend and you also have a lot of vehicles to use which are quite cool. Each level can be beat in about two minutes, more or less. The bosses are also quite easy. Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex is a good game ... while it lasts.

Report Card:
Gameplay = 7
Graphics = 8
Audio = 7
Replay Value = 6
Overall: 6.5/10
