Hunter: The Reckoning - Redeemer

Kaylie Winter trained hard every day of the last 10 years since her parents were murdered. Eager for justice, she is one of five Hunters to discover that the undead threaten the streets of Ashcroft once again. If you don’t remember Kaylie, she is the little girl who’s parents were killed in a church by a giant teddy bear… no, really, we’re not kidding. Don’t believe us? Play the Hunter: The Reckoning to see for yourself. So anyways, the bad guys are back and once again you must rid the town of their evil presence.

Choose one of five playable Hunters each with their own weapons and magic abilities. Weapons very from shotguns to machine guns. Play by yourself or with 3 of your friends for some serious 4-player action. This is where the game shines most, co-op play. Another part in which Redeemer shines is the number of enemies that can be on screen without and lag or drop in frame-rate. Up to 30 enemies can be on screen at the same time! Enemies vary from zombies to vampires. The game flows well with easy to learn controls. Learning curve is not to high for beginners and not to low for hardcore gamers.

Visually, Redeemer improves upon the original with more environment details and effects. Levels are designed well and each with it’s own uniqueness. Characters animate well with no jerky movement, just fluid movement no matter which player you choose. Overall, visually the game is on par with what we are used to seeing on Xbox.

5.1 Surround Sound really draws you into the game. In game sounds are heard better through surround sound. Voice-overs are average at best. Some are really good while others are nothing special… so they balance each other out.

Overall, Redeemer is a game that will be enjoyed by fans of the original. It is more of the same, only improved. If you are new to the series, rent it and see if you like it. If you are a returning fan, you might also want to rent it. It’s pretty much Hunter version 1.1 … not really a revolutionary sequel.

Report Card:
Gameplay = 8
Graphics = 8.5
Audio = 8
Replay Value = 8
Overall: 8/10
