Kung Fu Chaos
Kung Fu Chaos is the newest action extravaganza from director Shao Ting, whose previous films have dazzled audiences with nonstop barrages of thrown chairs, gunshots, explosions and broken limbs. This time, Ting is pulling out all the stops-raging rivers, hungry dinosaurs, alien invasions, sinking luxury liners…it’s almost too much to contend with. But you’ll have to, as well as simultaneously fighting ninjas, your fellow actors, and dodging exploding pigs, if you want to become the ultimate star!
That is what Kung Fu Chaos is all about. You are hired by Shao Ting to star in his movie. Throughout all the scenes and sets you'll battle all sorts of bad guys and even escape a T-Rex! The scenes aren't all about kicking butt. Some have you saving ninjas from a freezing ocean only to have them turn their backs on you!
There are 8 different characters to choose from:
1. Master Sho-Yu
2. Ninja Fu Hiya
3. Monkey
4. Lucy Cannon
5. Xui Tan Sour
6. Samurai and Son
7. Candi Roll
8. Captain Won Ton
There are 8 different things to choose from at the main menu:
1. Ninja Challenge - Choose an actor and fight your way through various monvie sets. You must score at least 3 of 5 stars to unlock the next level.
2. Battle Game- Choose a character and fight against your co-stars in the scene of your choosing. Up to 4 players.
3. Championship - Fight against the computer of your friends through 12 rounds of action. Each round is scored and the person with the highest score at the end wins! Up to 4 players.
4. Miniseries - You unlock this option which gives you 3 unique challanges per character.
5. Freestyle - Fight for as long as you want. No time limit. Up to 4 players.
6. Rehearsal- Learn the basic moves and combos to master Kung Fu Chaos
7. Special Features - Check out cast bios, island scenes, the Kunf Fu Chaos game trailer, credits, and Final Cuts.
8. Game Options - Adjust the sound and controller settings as well as other unlocked game options.
The controls in Kung Fu Chaos are quite simple. The Left Trigger is used to Taunt while the Right Trigger is used to block. Press both of them at the same time to perform your Super Attack. The Left thumbstick is used to move around while the Right thumbstick has no use. X is used to attack, A to jump, B to trip, pick up something, or throw something. Y is used to counter attack. The Black button is used for a Spin or Running attack while the White button is used for a Heavy attack. All very easy to remember and execute.
Visually, Kung Fu Chaos is quite impressive. You will be surprised at how much is going on in some levels such as the T-Rex chase or the UFO invasion. Each set in the game is unique. One scene you'll be on the sinking titanic while in another you'll be in a jungle. Great variety and each set is nicely detailed with explosions, plants and trees, etc. Characters are nicely modeled and animated well. The one thing these characters suffer from is from ugly faces... it looks as if they were involved in a horrible face altering accident. Overall, graphics in KFC are good.
Sound is the weakest point in KFC, although it does have 2 cool songs. One of them is Kung Fu Fighting, you know, the one that goes "Everybody was Kung Fu fighting, those cats were fast as lightning... hoo, haa!" and the other song is the theme to Bruce Lee's movie Enter the Dragon. If this isn't your kind of music, you can always use a custom soundtrack while you kick ninja butt! I personally was laying the smack down while rocking out to Weezer and Blink 182. Voice overs are a bit cheesy, some might say racist. I wont get into that since there are more worse things going on outside your door that Kung Fu Chaos's 'racism' isn't even worth mentioning. Explosions, screams, and crashes are good but wont rattle your cage. Overall, average sound.
Overall, Kunf Fu Chaos wont go down in history along side Halo but it is worth a look. Good graphics and gameplay make this a game that will enjoyed for a long time wheter it be by yourself or with your buddies. Well worth the price of admission.
Report Card:
