News: Tom Morello stars in Guitar Hero III

Spawn: Armageddon

For countless millennia (thousands and thousands of years), Angels and Demons have been preparing for the final battle between good and evil - and the time has finally come. The Angels have declared war by blasting a hole straight through New York City and into the demon realm. Now, Demos are spilling out on to the Earth's surface. Now it is up to you to save humanity from annihilation.

You'd think that a great character like Spawn would make for an awesome game with intense, non-stop, all-out action… but alas, we have to keep hoping. The thing about this game is that it seemed very rushed… almost as if they were trying to capitalize on the "Spawn in Soul Calibur II" thing. I guess Namco figured, Xbox owners liked playing as Spawn in Soul Calibur II, so we'd better get this game out to them quick before the lose interest in the character. What resulted was a poorly executed, boring, repetitive game that is just barely playable... in terms of enjoyability.

Shoot this monster… now that one… proceed to next level, jump a few times… repeat. Honestly this sort of gameplay is to be expected from PSone games where there wasn't much room for innovations… but come on, this is Xbox… the most powerful system out there and you're telling me that you want us to buy this game? No thanks, I'll go play Ninja Gaiden.

Visually, Spawn: Armageddon isn't much of looker. It screams lazy port which is a true shame. A license such as Spawn deserves attention to intricate details, but alas, we are served with yet another average looking game that you'll forget about an hour after you play. It isn't like incredibly visual games such as Halo where you can remember graphic effects such as the plasma grenades.

As far as sound goes, it's the worst part of the game. The only good thing about it is the new Marylin Manson song. Everything else is pretty much… how should I put this… crap.

Honestly, if you are a fan of the comics, stay away… you'll probably run away thinking "WTF did they do!?" Overall, Spawn: Armageddon is nothing more than a rental.

Report Card:
Gameplay = 5
Graphics = 7
Audio = 5
Replay Value = 5
Overall: 5/10
